Implementing PVI's Sustainable Development Program in 2024, on October 3rd, 2024, PVI - the Project sponsor, in coordination with the Center for Center for research on initiatives of community development (RIC) and the local authority of Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province, held the opening ceremony of the water supply project for people of Hang Co Bua Village, Pung Luong Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province.
The opening ceremony was participated with Mr. Duong Thanh Danh Francois - Permanent Vice Chairman of PVI Board of Directors, Mr. Do Tien Thanh - Deputy CEO of PVI – Person in charge of Sustainable Development, Mr. Dang Tien Dung – Head of PVI Trade Union and representatives of PVI Holdings Divisions, PVI Trade Union. Representatives of RIC Center were Mr. Le Van Hai - Director of the Center and project staff also attended the ceremony.
Regarding the local authority representatives, there were Mr. Sung A Chua - Permanent Vice Chairman of Mu Cang Chai District People's Committee, Mr. Thao A Pao - Chairman of Pung Luong Commune People's Committee, Mr. Chang A Sung - Vice Chairman of De Xu Phinh Commune People's Committee.
As part of the sustainable development cooperation program between PVI Holdings and RIC Center from 2023, the task related to support the improvement of clean water and domestic water conditions for disadvantaged communities in an effective and sustainable manner is one of the main objectives. Up to now, after nearly 2 years of implementing the program, with a total funds of 1.5 billion VND from PVI Holdings, RIC Center has completed 3 water supply projects, including: 1 project in Na Sang village, Chieng Xuan commune, Van Ho district, Son La province; 1 project in Dong Tam A hamlet, Tan Duyet commune, Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province and today the water supply project for the people of Hang Co Bua village, Pung Luong commune, Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province has also been completed and go into operation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Thanh Danh Francois shared: “the Project is operated on schedule, which is the result that RIC Center, Divisions of PVI Holdings, the local authorities and local people had to make great efforts in coordination and implementation process due to the harsh weather, heavy rain, transportation of materials, construction work, and installation of water pipes encountered many difficulties. But in return for those difficulties, we have achieved good results like the Project has been put into use, providing water for nearly 350 people of 72 households, most of whom are poor households and policy families. With 7,600 meters of water pipes leading from the upstream reservoir to residential areas and more than 300 workers, those numbers speak to the efforts of all of us with the achievements".
“He also hopes and believes that the local authority, the people, and the coordination and guidance of RIC Center will always preserve and protect the project for long-term and effective use, helping people to reduce their difficulties and hardships, gradually rising out of poverty for a better life".
In addition, PVI also has gifts in cash and in donation by PVI staff with the desire to support some of the difficulties of people and students in the communes of Mu Cang Chai district, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province. Especially, in the context that Yen Bai is one of the northwestern provinces heavily affected by the recent storm No. 3.
